We cover the following topics;

Professionalism, Cultural Dynamics, The Role of the Private Security Professional, Reporting Emergencies, Foot and Vehicle Patrol, Citizen Contacts in the Field, Tactical Communications with Emotional, Angry, Hostile or Intoxicated Citizens, Responsibility and Safety Issues, Fire Science, Introduction to the Criminal Justice System, Criminal Law, Arrest Search and Seizure, Civil Law, Juvenile Laws, Preliminary Investigations, Report Writing, Courtroom Testimony, Loss Prevention Principles, General Counter Measures to Theft and Countermeasures to Shoplifting.

Part of the course is not only how to write a report, but actually writing a report. The report needs to contain as many of the six W's (Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How) as possible, depending on the amount of information available. The report must also contain proper spelling, grammar and sentence structure.

Students are required to perform a building security analysis. You will be assessed on how well you are able to conduct a mock 9-1-1 call and report an emergency. You will also be graded on decision-making skills in making a citizen arrest. Where you may have problems, you will receive remediation to assist you in passing the course.

To pass the course you must score 85% or higher on the final written exam and you must pass all portions of the assessment module. All missed questions and assessment modules will be remediated with the instructor.
